The A+D Home Hub is a dedicated parental hub for families of students studying within the Holy Cross Art and Design Department. It has been created to help parents/ guardians stay informed and engaged with their child’s A level journey. The hub provides easy access to important updates, including key curriculum content, upcoming deadlines, and essential information about trips and events. By offering a central space for communication and resources, the A+D Home Hub ensures parents / guardians remain connected and well-supported throughout their child’s studies, fostering stronger collaboration between home and college in nurturing creative growth and academic success.

U6 FINAL EXHIBITION DEADLINE:
At the end of their two-year study, all students showcase their work in a public external exhibition, providing a unique opportunity to share their achievements with the wider community. This large-scale celebration marks a positive and inspiring conclusion to their A Level studies, offering recognition of their hard work and creativity. The final deadline for the exhibition, including all Component one and Component two work is Wednesday 13th May 3pm. Exhibition 2026 will be held at the Mill Gate Shopping Centre in Bury. Students are alloctated one full day off timetable per A&D subject to put their work up in the exhibition space. Students are expected to put their own work up with assistence from staff. Once the work has been marked and moderated the exhibition will open to the public for 3 days, dates TBC. We look forward to welcoming you all to the Private view prior to the exhibition opening, to celebrate in the amazing achievements of the class of 2026, invites will go out nearer the time.

WEDNESDAY 13TH MAY 3PM
L6 A&D INDEPENDENT PROJECT
Over the next few weeks the the Y2 exams are running in the A&D department. At this time during the second year of the course, Y2 students are working on Component two the externally set assignment. The 15 hour controlled test takes place at the end of this project, this is an AQA requirement. Due to the volume of students there is some disruption to the usual timetable.
Y1 students have been working on Component one: The Portfolio. At this point in the course and during the Y2 exams, students are asked to work on an independent project, see individual course pages on the website for details. This enables students to input their own ideas and develop a project using the skills they have learned so far. This is an important project, work made will be assessed for Key Assessment four and is invaluable preparation for the second year project, the Personal Investigation.

U6 FORMAL
DEADLINE:
Thursday 20th Nov 3pm
Please also note the upcoming deadline for Upper Sixth Art and Design students’ Personal Study, which falls on Thursday, 20th November. This is the first of three formal deadlines this academic year. Students are required to complete a piece of written research and analysis, which they must present in the form of a digital publication.
The Personal Study forms part of the Ofqual assessment requirements. Failure to complete and present this work will result in the student being unable to be entered for Component Two.

Due to the number of U6 students completing a 3-hour mock exam (WC 10th Nov), ALL L6 Art & Design lessons will be cancelled. We have set the following independent project for L6 students to complete during this time. Students are welcome to work in any of the free rooms available around the exam sessions.
Staff will be available to offer support both in person and on Teams, working around the U6 mock exam schedule.
